Train, train, take us away~

I have a question, one I think there's been a good deal of confusion over. It's about how long the trains take to get from one place to another.

The guide says it like this:

"Every hour it makes a stop at each station; their route is as follows: starting from Central to Northeast, to Southwest, back to Central. Central to Southeast to Northwest, and back. An entire round trip takes four hours."

That can be interpreted in two ways.

1. It takes one hour to get from Point A to Point B, OR

2. It takes four hours to get from Point A to point F and back. This means it takes one hour to get from Point A to Point E, one hour from Point E to point F, and then the same in reverse. Thus, it takes 15 minutes to get from Point A to Point B.

I think it's supposed to be #2, but I keep seeing people interpreting it like #1, so I'm not sure. Could someone clear this up for me?

It's supposed to be like #2. Four hours to get from point A to point F and back. The Niflheim-Muspelheim line is a separate line from that, and also takes four hours to go from one gate to the other and back. Basically, it's an hour trip from the central station to any of the gates.

Hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread a little, but while we're on the topic of traveling time...how long does it take to walk around? Say, from one block to another?
If each block is five miles, it seems like it would take a few hours to walk from one to the other unless your character has some sort of traveling advantage (for example, flight), but it doesn't seem like most people have traveling taking that long...
