Yes. I am curious to know how you guys think Paixao is going, if you're happy with it and what improvements you think could be made. Posting anonymously is okay, and IP logging is OFF if you feel uncomfortable about talking about something. But please feel free to provide negative/positive feedback, questions, and comments. Paixao runs because of YOU, so we need YOU GUYS to help us~ yes?

Thanks!!

I know this may not sit well with certain muns here, but I really feel that book and movie characters shouldn't be allowed in Paixao. It just feels... awkward, and there's absolutely no reason for them to be included when there's pretty much little to no restriction on applicable video games, mangas and anime series. Letting players choose characters from those three categories is already more than enough.

That, and there are just certain fandoms and characters out there that just shouldn't be roleplayed by others.

Wow, that is one of the most most hypocritical and bigoted things I've heard a roleplayer ever say. Roleplaying itself is pretty weird, and there's plenty of people in the world who think we're idiots for pretending to be video game and Disney characters, much less book and other movie characters, so we don't have any place to complain about what other people want to write about. Especially in a game open to all fandoms.

Because I can't post anonymously, I'll be blunt. If you had your way about that, where would Paige and I be? Half of our characters here- and our first characters, mind you, are book characters. How does having a character from a book or a movie differ from having a character from a manga or a video game? I don't see the distinction.

It saddens and annoys me to think that I might be playing with someone who would like to limit the playing field.

Hope you don't mind me being curious, but what about all the movie/book characters already in play? Can't just yoink them out arbitrarily...O_o

Not Ford!

*fangirls*

(Anonymous) 2006-06-21 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Or Jack! *likewise fangirls*

[identity profile] espers.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! Ford and Jack are awesome, i'd hate to see them vanish on some odd whims or something ;_;

As are the circle of magic characters. They're all well-written!

It feels like the game is running around one big plan by one player or whatever, and everyone else is in the dark about it.

That secrecy is fine for our characters if it's that way, but as a player, it's awkward as hell. Beyond trying to find a way out of Paixao, there's not much in the way of general direction to go beyond.

Good feedback:

I like the rping style in the community. The comment, reply, new comment format. It keeps things so much neater.

(Anonymous) 2006-06-21 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm aware of that, but I see it as a difference between character (IC) and out of character/the player. It's one thing for the character not to know what's going on, another entirely for the player not to.

I don't know about everything being out in the open, because it really doesn't seem to be.

But you asked for my comment, and here it is.

(same mouse as above) as a note

I love Paixao. It's interesting, active, and well-organized. But that was just a minor gripe I've had since entering here.

Didn't want to give the impression that I hate the game, because I certainly don't.

I've only been here about a week or so, but I've really enjoyed Paixao so far. It's been a blast to have so many different fandoms in the same place inter-mingling, the setting is really nifty, the threads are a blast to read, the people are super-nice, it's gotten me looking into some shows/books I hadn't before, and the whole place is just put together so dern nice. The one thing I had trouble with was the day system sort of confused me at first, but I think I've got a better grasp on that now than I did when I started off.

So, um, yes. Paixao makes me happy inside, and all that good stuff. <3 Yay for Paixao~!

[identity profile] skymetal.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I will leave my lameness behind with a name. Muhuhaha.

I love that the week system has changed - though I didn't get it at first, I now see what's happening and I get it now. Go me!

Yeah, I mentioned before that the IC chats seemed to be kind of for an exclusive club, but they don't seem to be springing up so much now, so I guess things have... evened out. Yay.

People still comment or make journal posts on weird times - person a has a post on Thursday, say, and person b is on Monday before it and comments anyway. I don't know how much regulating can go into it. Most people post a date and time with their comments. It's just weird when people are going through dark places and then boom, they just decide to sit down, pull out the journal, and make a post or comment. Rawr. That just irks my timeline sensibilities. I try not to post when I'm in the middle of conversations or threads because I mess up my sense of timeline reeeally easy.

And the posting deadline, the four or three or two days depending on your char? I don't see much enforcement aside from random activity checks. Could we go back to the week-to-post things? I mean I just stupidly vanished for a week *go me* and there was no penalty.

I like the occasional CRITIQUE MY CHARACTER things. Maybe there can be a thread with anonymous posting where people can post what bothers them about a character? I know there can be a lot of behind the scenes char hatred and maybe it would cause a giant flamewar! help ease things. I dunno.

Now I'll shut up til I think of something else I wanna say. Heh.

For the record, I'd love it if there was something like that. If I'm not getting the character right, it'd be great to have someone actually call me on it rather than grumble about it behind the scenes or something. Not that I'm saying anyone here's doing it, just saying I've had that experience in the past. ^^; Always looking to improve my writing skills, but so few people ever honestly come out and say 'you need to do more of this' or 'you need to do less of this' or 'what in the bloody heck were you THINKING you dope'... er, yes. I'll go back over here and be quiet now. Just saying it sounds really awesome-ish, yes. *scrambles off*

[identity profile] skymetal.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good, so I'm not totally off base with thinking that. ^^0

I will admit there are things I'm dying to say without being mean and rude. I want to sooo badly, but it's often considered flaming. I just want to offer some feedback and criticism and I want to know what others are thinking when they do something. Of course, it all gets very personal, but that could be a rule of the thread - keep it professional, no personal attacks and all.

I know there are others wanting to call me on my shit too, and I want to hear it, dammit.

[identity profile] seconddoll.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, I like those type of things in games. Because yeah, I've been in games where people have been unhappy with a character, and just end up screwing up the game because they start HATING that character... and it gets UGLY :|

And yeah, I think it's possible to critique a character while not attacking the mun :3 It's better to be told that you're doing something odd rather than people talking about it behind your back and nothing getting resolved, but yet still having annoyed people... or something >.>

[identity profile] daath.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Character critique, you say~? Done. Because I wanna do it again too. >> Post shall be up in OOC soon.

[identity profile] daath.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
It's up now. D:

[identity profile] 1000fish.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm.
I DO like the mysterious "Plot is here but not all of it is revealed yet :DDD" part of Paixao. Sometimes I wish there was ... something else, but that's probably because I have trouble focusing. Or something.

Uhm~ I did have a question about Paixao/ians. They are like normal people? I'm never quite sure how to treat the NPCs and the town.

You and the other mods have done a stupendous job making this RP fun though. I don't think I've felt the need to be online so much for a non!"responsibility" comm in a long time.

I hate that Asia is 12 hours away, too. DDD:

[identity profile] sandalxhat.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhmmmm--- One thing that's been bothering me about Paixao since my entrance is that everyone seems so.... spread out. Like, some people know what's going on, and some don't while others are just coming in and are like WHAT???

I mean, most of that is the draw. Because having new characters coming and being all confused is just downright hilarious XDDDD Especially reading those entrances. But... I dunno, I feel like I haven't been able to get out to RP with most of the Muns here, only because there hasn't been any occasion to do so. I thought the Spring Festival threads were supposed to remedy this... but uh, maybe I've just been the dark about that?

So I guess what I'm saying is that I know I feel like so lost on things that others seem to have extensive knowledge of. Maybe there could be like... a FAQ thread as to what the current going-ons of Paixao are? O_O;;;;

[identity profile] skymetal.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I just thought of something. :B

On the thread summaries that we post upon completion, can one of the mandatory bits about it include what day it happened? Cause it's really confusing sometimes when you're just reading those alone.

(Anonymous) 2006-06-22 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There ought to be more pickyness among accepting applications. But hey, it's running well and the mods are doing an awesome job.

[identity profile] terra-creation.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
I love Paixao. I went insanely-off-the-walls-HYPER when applications became open again. I love how it's run and organized and all this funky plot that leaves all us little "pawns" (IC-ly) to being "Oh...crap..." and all that. And I must say I love that graphic XD I think when I first saw this place like... maybe a month before I joined I was thinking "... that's just beautiful" (I'm going to be studying Graphics Design come the Fall~) and then read through all the information and was just STUNNED. All the work put into this is just amazing...

Though I do wish the Lumens jumped around more. I would rp one or something but... I don't really know where to stick it? Hmmm....

But yes. Absolutely marvolous-stical fun!

Making up words is fun too~
